smell of a city...Taipei

Was at Taipei on business. Been there many times, that from airport to the city downtown is no stranger to me, well, most of the time...the air making me cough when I first step to the curb outside the terminal, the friendly cab driver - and always using the meter and say so many "thank you" for each trip, the all-you-can-eat-restaurant at starting around 399NT (~$13) for dinner, the checker-box grid of the city streets...well, it has not changed much, even the gas price is soaring to almost 35NT per liter.
Attended a business all-day function at one of the elite class of hotels, Regent Grand Formosa, even the smell remains...I cannot tell what it is, the huge bouquet at the lobby (watched Wasabi? it's like the one at the Imperial Hotel at Tokyo, only smaller)? the scent from antiseptics? as I can smell it in the lift. or the carpet cleaner? strange, I want to ask the manager next time.
The smell of the Da Ai Cab. All the cabs in this cab company must "installed" the pot and fresh lilies at the front passenger seat dash side. The cab driver told me it costs him 100NT for the "bunch" and he is happy with it. It lasts for a week, plus it created a signature smell in Da Ai cab line. I like the smell of it...but, will prefer not to sit at the front passenger seat...I am not allergic to flower, but it is just too strong being near.
Costgo, this is the only Costgo I have been to, at Taipei NeiHu area. The smell at the checkout area, cashier row...the smell of the chowder, pizza...I guess maybe this is the reason for many to dine in the giant store even they are so close to the exit and after the checkout cashier :)
Wish I have a photo to share...but all these places seem so familiar, I am just too lazy to pull out my camera phone to shoot at it.
...maybe next time, come to think of it, I was at Taipei in March, it's still not too long ago.

105mmf2.8

finally see used 105mm f2.8 lense posted for sale, used, of course. Left a message for the seller, awaiting for return call. Hopefully can get it this time. Really like to play with an 1:1 macro lense...it seems macro photography is getting into my nerve these days, eventhough the last time I hold the camera is like 2 weeks ago...is that long already. Time flies with tons of work piling up in front.
It started more than a year ago, but with 60mm, it slowly evolved into 105mm because of the focal length and experience in using the tele. 60mm used to be my ideal, but it seems I will need a ring light plus the potential of disturbing the subject...so, 105mm. The legacy version and not the newer VR with SWM built in. See more details at http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/105af.htm
